Cloning

Cloning : Cloning is a method used to create genetically identical organisms. The commonly used method for this is Somatic Nuclear Transfer or SCNT. The mammal successfully cloned was a Sheep called Dolly, cloned at Rosalind Institute in Scotland in 1996 and was lived up to 2003. Ian Willmut led the research team. Recently, India also showed its   own technological perfection towards cloning. Samrupa , worlds first cloned Buffalo was created at the National Dairy Research Institute at Karnal ,  Haryana. It was born on February 6, 2009. The second cloned Buffalo ‘Garima’ was born in NDRI, on June 6, 2009. These were created through indigenous cloning technique.
