Agra Fort:Near the gardens of Taj Mahal stands the important 16th century Mughal monument known as the Red Fort of agra.Agar Fort ,an excellent example of Mughal architecture ,is one of the few UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India .The construction of the Agra Fort was started around 1565.

Ajanta&Ellora Caves:Beginning with the 2nd century B.C,and continuing into the 6th century A.D.These Buddhist and Jain caves are ornately carved,yet seem quiet and meditative and exude a divine energy and power.A set of 29 caves,Ajanta is among the finest examples of some of the earliest Buddhist architecture ,cave paintings and sculptures .It is in the Aurangabad,Maharashtra.

Charminar:The Charminar is a massive arch built by Mohammed Quli Qutab Shahi,in 1591 to commemorate the end of the plague in the Hyderabad city .symbol of the city the Charminar ,is an impressive square monument with four minarets.

Buddhist Monuments:Sanchi also known as Kakanaya,Kakanava,Kakanadabota and Botasriparvata in ancient times is situated in the state of Madhyapradesh.It is a religious place with historical and archeological significance.Sanchi is famous for stupas,monolithic Asoka pillars ,temples,monasteries and sculptural wealth dating from 3rd century BC to 12th century A.D

Elephanta Caves:Elephanta ,anciently known as Gharapuri,the island capital of Konkan Mauryas,is celebrated for its colossal image of Mahesamurti with three heads each representing a different form .The Elephanta island is located 10 km away from the Gateway of India at Mumbai in Maharashtra.

Fatehpur Sikri:The royal city at Fatehpur Sikri ,situated 26 miles west of agra,Uttar Pradesh ,was built under the orders of the great Mughal Emperor Akbar.In honour of saint Shaik Salim Christi .

Gateway of India:It is the most famous monument in Mumbai built during the British rule in the country.It was built as a triumphal arch to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Mumbai(then Bombay) .The Gate way of India was built at Appolo Bunder ,a popular meeting place .It was designed by British architect ,George Wittet.The foundation stone of the Gateway of India was laid by then Governor of Bombay on 31st March 1913.

Golden Temple:Sri Harmandir Sahib ,also known as Darbar sahib or Golden Temple ,(on account of its scenic beauty and golden coating)situated in Amritsar(Punjab) is the most sacred temple for Sikhs .This temple propagates Sikhisms message of tolerance and acceptance through its architecture that has incorporated symbols from other religions.The Sikhs all over the world ,wish to visit Sri Amritsar and to pay obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib in their Ardas.
